Stuart Clark
Stuart is the owner of WHC. Stuart graduated from Leeds University where he studied Economics and then trained with an International practice in Hull qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1983. Stuart spent time working in Investment Banking in London before returning to Hull in 1991 where he has worked with and for accountancy businesses ever since.
Stuart works closely with owner managed businesses and family businesses across a variety of sectors throughout East Yorkshire offering a pragmatic approach to the services WHC offer. Not only does Stuart work closely with his clients, but he builds strong relationships and becomes their trusted adviser by adding value to their business plans and strategy. Stuart is passionate about helping clients cut through financial complexity by explaining issues in a straightforward and understandable way and giving simple but effective ideas.
Stuart was, until recently, a Governor at Hull College (and past Chairman of their Audit Committee and also of their Fresh Start Committee) where his role was to contribute to ensuring that the students in Hull receive a high quality education that helps them achieve their ambitions.
Stuart was until recently, the Chairman of the Audit Committee and Director of the Venn Academy in Hull.
Mike Philpott
Mike is a graduate of Hull University where he studied Economics and then trained with an international firm of Accountants in Leeds. Mike has over 35 years of accountancy experience working in both industry and practice. He has spent the last 14 years working for WHC in Bridlington and has an in-depth understanding of the needs of local businesses in East Yorkshire.
Mike is also a qualified teacher and worked as a Mathematics Teacher for a period of time. The training he received helps him explain some of the more complex accountancy and tax issues for clients.
Eddy Hopson
Eddy founded WHC (then called Hopson & Co) in 1994 before reducing his workload and becoming a Consultant in 2009.
Eddy qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1969 and has worked in accountancy practices since 1965, including six years at a large London firm, 12 years as a Partner in a large provincial firm before moving to Bridlington and founding WHC. Eddy has experience in all aspects of accountancy and taxation matters from simple tax return clients up to larger limited companies.
Doug Crawford
Doug joined us in August 2021. Doug is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants having trained locally with a national Big 4 firm and a top regional firm. Doug has many years of experience working and managing clients in a General Practice environment and deals with all aspects of a clients' business.
Nicola Ingram
A very experienced member of staff who has spent much of her career working for accountancy practices. Nicola does all of our payroll work and prepares VAT Returns for our clients. She also undertakes numerous administrative tasks for us.
Linda Coultas
Linda undertakes accounts preparation, bookkeeping, prepares VAT returns and payroll. An experienced member of staff
Louise Kirk
Louise works on our reception and deals with phone calls. She is a life-long Bridlington resident and knows all of our clients and is always cheerful. Louise is also our credit controller.
